Children are entitled to a sound, basic education under New York's constitution, and adequate educational opportunities are critical for the development of the next generation and the vitality of the community. In this section, we:
- Evaluate the quality of our area's educational system, examining the participation in educational supports such as preschool and special education, as well as student performance on state tests and high school graduation rates.
- Include indicators of student performance from different financial and cultural backgrounds to see how the educational system is doing with students across the spectrum.
- Finally, we examine our community's level of education by tracking post–graduation plans of our high school students and the highest level of education obtained by adults in our community.
